Passion Novel - Volume 4 - Chapter 105 - Hidden Track
The dream suddenly vanished.
I was back in the pitch-black darkness of the detention center.
In that darkness, still not waking from a dream indistinguishable from reality, I bewilderedly raised my hands. Though hidden in the darkness, I felt sure they were stained with blood. The blood of Jeong Taei, whom I had killed with my own hands and who no longer existed, must have been there.
Perhaps I had screamed. I felt as if I had risen with a cry close to a scream. But perhaps it wasn’t true. That sound was only heard by me.
—Snap out of it.
—Snap out of it, Ilay Riegrow.
I whispered, tearing at the flesh above my heart.
It was as if, it was the same sensation. The reason I came to the detention center, the reality I remembered vaguely like a dream, killing someone in a moment of anger without even knowing it, that dream was the same.
In reality, I killed two people as if in a dream.
In the dream, I killed him as if in reality. In both, I couldn’t control my emotions.
Ever since he disappeared like that, I haven’t been able to control my emotions.
—Snap out of it, Ilay. Snap out of it, Ilay Riegrow.
I screamed again and again. A scream-like shout filled my head.
I had to. I had to wake from this hazy chaos. Otherwise, without realizing it, out of control, I would kill him. And then, in a reality that came too late, I would feel that shuddering sense of loss I had felt in the dream.
I heard a sound echoing like a scream inside my body.
Snap out of it. Snap out of it, Ilay.
I no longer thought about what that anger was. The name of the anger wasn’t important. I was simply angry, and I had to control that anger myself.
Only then did I have to pull him back into my hands.
I had to. Otherwise, I would lose him twice. That was the only important fact to me now.
