Lick Me Up If You Can Novel (Completed) - Chapter 141
The noisy detention cell suddenly fell silent. Nelson wasn’t the only one surprised by the unexpected words; Koi’s eyes widened in bewilderment, but Nelson’s reaction was even more intense. His face turned ashen, his mouth agape, frozen in a state that clearly showed he was caught off guard, utterly dumbfounded by the unforeseen situation. Perhaps Nelson’s reaction further fueled their suspicions, as words poured out from everywhere, as if they had been waiting for this moment.
“That’s right, weren’t you his subordinate in high school? Getting us out of here would be nothing!”
“Call him, hurry up.”
“Are we going to spend the night here? Do something, quickly. If Ashley Miller shows up and lets us go, we’ll believe everything you say.”
“Yeah, I’ll believe you too.”
“Me too.”
The public opinion was unified. Everyone was pressing Nelson with the same fervor, as if this was their chance to shatter his bravado. He had no escape. He just nervously rolled his eyes, looking around.
“…Hey, you guys, seriously.”
Nelson finally spoke after a long pause. He suddenly let out a bitter laugh, ran a hand through his hair, and shook his head.
“You guys really have no patience. Alright, alright. I’ll call him.”
Nelson sighed after glancing around at them, then added,
“But don’t expect too much. It might be hard to get out of here quickly.”
“Why?”
Someone asked, and Nelson frowned this time.
“Are you really asking because you don’t know? As you all know, today’s Friday. Friday night. What would extreme Alphas like Ashley Miller be doing on a day like this?”
Everyone looked at each other. In an atmosphere of doubt, one person spoke up.
“Is today, by any chance, the pheromone party?”
Only then did Nelson smile again.
“Yeah. Don’t you remember why we gathered in the first place? I called you guys because I pulled off a big score. I got the new drugs that came in and left your share.”
Someone hesitated and then asked,
“Then those drugs are…”
Nelson nodded.
“That’s right, they’re the drugs supplied to the extreme Alphas. Ashley Miller is probably high on them right now, screwing any Omega he can get his hands on.”
Everyone fell silent. Nelson turned towards the outside, as if to make a point, and said,
“Anyway, for your sake, I’ll talk to him. What can I say, you just have to think you’re unlucky.”
Then he called the police. Everyone just watched him request a lawyer with a mixture of hope and disbelief.
It was a couple of hours later that Koi was finally able to get his identity checked and explain the situation to the police. He answered the police’s questions, filled out the paperwork, and was then thrown back into the detention cell. It seemed he wouldn’t be able to leave until morning. Koi eventually had no choice but to give up.
Several hours later, the detention cell grew quiet. Neither Nelson nor anyone else spoke. Some were depressed, perhaps from the drugs wearing off, some fell asleep, and some banged their heads against the wall. Amidst this chaotic scene, Koi sat leaning against the wall, his face exhausted. He was tired and hungry, completely drained of energy, when Nelson suddenly slumped down beside him. Koi flinched reflexively, but Nelson ignored it and spoke.
“Damn it, can’t even smoke.”
Koi pretended not to hear his mumbled soliloquy and averted his gaze, but Nelson spoke to him.
“Came all this way to fix something, and then, huh?”
Koi reluctantly glanced at Nelson’s snickering face before looking away again. Nelson, oblivious to his reaction, continued to ramble on.
“Just my luck. Friday, now it’s Saturday. It’s annoying enough to work on weekends, and then, huh? In a detention cell, huh?”
This was all his fault, yet he was talking as if it were someone else’s problem. Koi endured it, wishing only to get out of there quickly. Nelson babbled on, as if completely unaware of Koi’s inner thoughts.
“Just wait a bit, Ashley Miller will get us out soon. Ah, if it weren’t for the weekend, we’d be out of here in a flash, huh?”
No one paid attention to his exaggerated bluster. Even if everyone else here believed Nelson, Koi certainly wouldn’t. His own heart was about to burst with anxiety. With Nelson sitting so close, he wanted to move immediately, but there was nowhere suitable to go. As he fidgeted, someone suddenly thrust their face close to his.
Startled, Koi involuntarily gasped and pressed himself tightly against the wall. A woman, vaguely awakened from the drug’s effects, giggled.
“You’re quite handsome. I like handsome men.”
She mumbled hazily and then suddenly collapsed onto him. Flustered, Koi hastily supported her body. She was completely limp, either unconscious or fast asleep, so he had no choice but to lay her on the floor. A sharp gaze fell upon him. He had tried to ignore it, but he knew. Nelson was staring intently at him.
“Yeah, he’s quite good-looking.”
The voice, mumbled as if to himself, was unsettling. It wasn’t a figment of his imagination that it seemed to carry a different meaning. Nelson narrowed his eyes and mumbled in a low voice.
“I think I’ve seen him somewhere before…”
It was a soft whisper, but it was clearly audible to Koi. Koi put all his effort into pretending not to hear, turning his head away from Nelson. But Nelson didn’t give up. Staring persistently at his face, Nelson suddenly asked,
“What’s your name?”
His heart plummeted in an instant. His pulse pounded, and cold sweat ran down his back. He was terrified to imagine how the man in front of him would react if he knew he was Connor Niles.
There was no way to escape either. He was completely trapped. There was only one path before him. And the outcome wouldn’t be good. The thought of being tormented by Nelson again made his mind go blank.
What should I do?
It was at that moment, when he felt a fear that threatened to send him into a panic, that footsteps suddenly echoed from outside the detention cell. Someone was approaching.
“…Oh.”
A faint gasp was heard. Koi hastily turned his head and froze in surprise. Koi wasn’t the only one flustered. The people in the detention cell, who had been moving slowly, also gradually widened their eyes or rose from their seats.
The most intense reaction came from Nelson, who was sitting beside Koi. He shot up, but his mouth hung open, unable to speak.
Finally, the footsteps ceased, and an unimaginable man stopped beyond the musty, dirty detention cell.
Beneath a bright beige coat, he was impeccably dressed in a dark gray three-piece suit, and he was astonishingly tall. Even in the suit, his well-defined muscles and broad chest were immediately noticeable, making him appear even larger.
Nevertheless, the man’s body looked agile because his attire was perfect. Even past midnight, his silver-blonde hair was not a single strand out of place, and his tie wasn’t even crooked.
The man, as if he had just stepped out of a magazine, gazed at them with deep purple eyes beneath a neat forehead and beautifully defined dark eyebrows. Everyone could smell the sugary sweet pheromone scent emanating from him. Everyone except one person, Koi.
Ashley Miller.
Someone whispered his name. Then the illusion standing before them suddenly became reality. Everyone who had been dazed until then began to stir. Amidst the murmuring and incoherent words of disbelief, Nelson shouted triumphantly,
“See, I told you! I said he’d come, what did I tell you? Do you believe me now, you stupid bastards!”
He let out a rough sound and burst into laughter. Everyone hesitated, glancing nervously at Nelson. With Ashley Miller appearing before their eyes, there was no room for doubt. Amidst the clear anxiety that they might be left behind if they made a mistake, only Nelson, full of himself, continued to babble loudly.
“Wow, Ash. You really came. How’s the party? Not short on drugs? I’ll go out right away and get as much as you need. What are friends for, huh?”
Nelson continued to ramble, but Ashley didn’t react. He remained standing there, hands still in his coat pockets, slowly looking around the interior. And when he finally fixed his gaze on one spot, Koi was so surprised he held his breath.
No way.
His heart began to pound again. …No way, that kind of.
He couldn’t move a muscle, and then the sound of the detention cell door opening was heard.
“No, not you.”
A police officer, reaching out to Nelson who was excitedly trying to be the first one out, looked around inside, searching for someone. Ashley, who had been silently watching, tilted his head and whispered something. His gaze was still fixed on one person.
The police officer, hearing Ashley’s words and following his gaze, shouted towards Koi.
“Connor Niles, come out.”
