Lick Me Up If You Can Novel (Completed) - Chapter 140
The surroundings were silent. Koi remained frozen, simply staring at Nelson. He suddenly felt as if he had been transported back to that time when he was infinitely pathetic. The young Koi, who had reflexively flinched and been terrified at the sight of him, was unexpectedly resurrected. He thought he had forgotten everything, but he hadn’t. His mouth was dry, his throat parched, unable to utter a sound.
It felt like a nightmare that could never happen. Koi stood motionless. Time seemed to stretch endlessly.
It was Nelson who broke the silence first. Even though it was already late evening, he looked disheveled, as if he had just woken up, and yawned lazily before stepping aside.
“Come on in.”
He mumbled in a slovenly tone, then scratched his head and yawned again. Koi belatedly came to his senses. As he hastily stepped inside, the luxurious interior immediately came into view. Koi, who had paused for a moment, impressed by the vastness of the interior, which he had already gauged from outside, quickly composed himself and spoke.
“Excuse me, where is the broken part?”
He asked in a low voice, afraid his voice might tremble. Nelson, without much reaction, stumbled and walked to one side. The stairs, which split into two, merged in the center before splitting again. Koi silently followed behind Nelson, trying to calm his mind.
He had never imagined he would see Nelson again. Nelson had left school after causing trouble shortly before graduation, and no one had seen him since. But to think he was here on the East Coast. And he seemed to have become incredibly wealthy. The enormous mansion was entirely paved with marble and gilded in places, looking opulent, as if it spoke of his success. But Koi had a more important matter at hand.
He doesn’t seem to recognize me.
Nelson’s reaction was perfectly ordinary. It was nothing more or less than a homeowner greeting a visitor who had come to do repairs.
Well, Al also said I’ve changed a lot.
Above all, the fact that his gaze met Nelson’s head was surprising. As a child, he had thought Nelson was incredibly tall, but now he was shorter than Koi. In fact, he was probably of average height or a bit shorter. Koi had just been shorter than him and much weaker. Thinking that made him feel strange.
He’s starting to go bald.
Just as he noticed Nelson’s crown was already thinning, Nelson opened the door to a room.
“Here.”
The place Nelson stopped at was the lounge on the second floor. The interior was a mess of empty liquor bottles and all sorts of trash, as if a party had been held the night before, and several men and women were seen tangled up, drinking or passed out. They seemed to have collapsed from exhaustion after partying all night and hadn’t sobered up yet. Koi pretended not to see them and quickly entered the kitchen area in one corner of the lounge. In the small kitchen, set up for making simple drinks and food, was the sink he needed to fix. Of course, that too was a mess.
As he was cleaning up the carelessly discarded trash before starting the repairs, he heard boisterous chatter from behind him.
“What, who else is here?”
Nelson replied in a similarly slurred voice to the clearly intoxicated question,
“To fix the plumbing. Just leave him alone.”
“I thought someone else came to our paradise.”
Another voice chuckled and chimed in. Koi, who was gathering trash to one side, inadvertently saw it. They were snorting white powder piled on the table. Koi froze instantly, his boss’s warning flashing through his mind, and at the same time, he realized. How Nelson had acquired such wealth.
“Ugh, your stuff is the best. Where do you get such high-quality stuff?”
At the admiring words, accompanied by a sniff, Koi was sure his guess was correct. There was no time to delay. He began to move faster than before. All he could think about was finishing the job quickly and leaving this place. From behind, Nelson chuckled and said,
“I told you, only I can get this. Don’t even think about it, if you mess with me, you won’t be safe either.”
Despite his slurred speech, it was quite an ominous warning. Of course, Koi had no desire to be involved with people who dealt with these kinds of drugs, so he urgently opened the tap to check the problem. Another man behind him said,
“Haaah… Lucky them, the true Alphas. They can do this overflowing amount their whole lives and nothing goes wrong, right? Those bastards don’t get drunk or addicted to drugs. Damn it, and they’re swimming in money.”
Soon, a pungent smoke spread. Koi thought it was a cigarette, but what briefly entered his vision looked different from a cigarette. Another guy lit it and asked,
“You went there, didn’t you? The pheromone party. Most of the drug use is there, right?”
“I’m curious. What’s it like there? They say there are tons of true Alphas? Are they all really purple-eyed?”
“They say expensive liquor and drugs are everywhere, and people just grab anyone and have sex there.”
“It’s paradise.”
“It’s paradise.”
Loud laughter followed. Koi silently separated the drainpipe and checked the accumulated foreign matter. As he scraped out the food waste and some unknown, unpleasant lumps, Nelson’s voice was heard.
“No matter how great they are, they can’t remember anything when their pheromones build up. The party wouldn’t even run without my drugs anyway…”
Another woman, who had been listening to his subsequent self-praise, asked,
“So you trade with those true Alphas even outside of parties? Do you have their contact info and stuff?”
“Of course, who do you think I am? Who else in this city can constantly supply such high-quality drugs besides me?”
He then proudly began to rattle off the names of famous true Alphas. From politicians to celebrities, company chairmen, and renowned professors, a string of names flowed out, and everyone gasped in admiration, listening intently.
“Then you don’t have to worry about anything happening to you.”
Nelson nodded arrogantly at someone’s remark.
“Of course. Who do you think my lawyer is?”
At the time that followed, Koi’s busy hands involuntarily paused.
“It’s Ashley Miller. You all know him, right? That guy from Miller Law Firm.”
“What?”
“Miller? Really?”
The guys around him shouted from various directions, mirroring Koi’s surprise.
“That place is super expensive! And Ashley Miller is your lawyer?”
“No way, you’re lying, right?”
“Yeah, that’s going too far.”
Soon, jeers erupted, and Nelson immediately grew angry, shouting in a harsh voice.
“You bastards, you don’t believe me? Ashley Miller, he was my subordinate in high school.”
Gasp.
Koi almost let out a gasp of horror without realizing it. He barely managed to suppress it, but everyone else’s reaction was no different.
“That’s really going too far.”
“You need to do drugs in moderation.”
“Yeah, it makes holes in your head. Like that guy.”
Then, cackling laughter erupted. Everyone was laughing loudly. The only two who weren’t laughing were Koi and Nelson. Nelson, his face red with anger and trembling, suddenly got up and ran somewhere. He quickly returned with a gun in his hand.
“Shut up, you motherf*ckers!”
Nelson screamed. Koi frantically looked around, but the guys who had been laughing and chatting until then burst into laughter again, seeing him. Perhaps due to the drugs, they were all out of their minds. In Koi’s ashen vision, he saw Nelson pull the trigger, and then a loud gunshot echoed.
It was less than ten minutes later that the police, dispatched after a neighbor’s report, arrested all of them.
Unfortunately, Koi was with them too.
Screams, cries, and snores filled the air. Huddled in the cramped jail cell, Koi was still in a daze. He couldn’t believe he was locked up in prison. He had only gone there for a repair job, so why was he here?
From the moment he was arrested, he kept insisting he was innocent, but the police casually dismissed him and simply crammed them all into one space. Thanks to that, Koi was left in a narrow cell with drug addicts he had never seen before, as well as Nelson.
What should I do?
His mind was filled only with the image of them doing drugs. He felt a headache coming on, thinking about what if this led to a criminal record. Haaah, he sighed involuntarily.
“Nelson, do something!”
Someone shouted. The attention of those who were somewhat sober among them focused on one spot. Koi also unconsciously looked at him, and Nelson snapped irritably.
“What do you want me to do, you motherf*ckers? It’s all your fault.”
The arrow immediately returned, and the guy who had first shouted retorted, undeterred.
“You need to get us out of here. You said you know a lot of people, didn’t you? Call them, tell them to get us out quickly.”
“Who am I supposed to call?”
Nelson sneered as if dumbfounded, and another guy suddenly shouted,
“Ashley Miller! You said he was your lawyer!”
At the unexpected name, Nelson froze.
