Kiss Me if You Can Novel Completed - Chapter 75
“…”
A heavy silence followed. No one spoke. Grayson, who had entered the counseling room readily, quietly closed the door and turned around. He looked at Josh’s stiff face and Steward alternately, then smiled as usual.
“I’m disappointed, Steward. I didn’t think you’d betray trust so easily.”
Josh said nothing as Grayson put a hand to his chest and exclaimed “Ah!” repeatedly, as if he were the protagonist of a tragedy. It was Steward who spoke.
“I apologize, I made a mistake.”
“Are you really sorry?”
Steward replied nonchalantly to Grayson, who asked, narrowing his eyes.
“Of course. I’m reflecting on it.”
He added, deliberately pausing.
“Please don’t revoke my license.”
Grayson quietly watched Steward, who added “Please” as if earnestly pleading. A heavy silence fell. What was that inscrutable man thinking now? Josh watched, feeling uneasy.
After watching Steward for a moment, Grayson then moved and plopped down on the sofa.
“Well, there’s nothing for it. It was going to come out eventually anyway.”
And he looked around and asked.
“Where’s Chase? Did he come alone? I didn’t see the car.”
Josh replied curtly to Grayson, who turned around.
“I just came to pick up the medicine instead. Mr. Miller is filming.”
“Oh, really?”
Just then, an employee opened the door and placed snacks on the table.
“Thanks, Julie.”
Grayson, who had greeted her kindly, picked up a chocolate and unwrapped it after she left. He unhesitatingly popped the contents into his mouth, then suddenly made a disappointed expression.
“This isn’t it.”
What did he mean? As Josh looked at him, puzzled, Steward spoke.
“The police took all the ones with medicine in them. I apologize.”
Josh blinked, momentarily dumbfounded. He was looking for the ones with medicine? And what about Steward? Is this something to apologize for? Josh was flabbergasted, but Grayson, unconcerned, frowned and protested.
“You should have left a few. I’m disappointed, Steward.”
“I apologize. Instead, once the drug analysis is complete, we’ll look into identical products.”
“You better.”
Grayson received the promise and then picked up another chocolate. He looked at it with a face full of regret, then unwrapped it. Even though he already knew it was just a normal chocolate, he tasted it and then made a disappointed expression, making Josh think he was an utterly incomprehensible man.
That’s not what’s important.
Josh spoke hastily.
“Is it true that Mr. Miller didn’t actually do it?”
Grayson, who was taking out a new chocolate, glanced at him. Steward shrugged and said nothing. Grayson slowly unwrapped the chocolate and lightly popped the dark chunk into his mouth. The soft piece crumbled and slowly melted. He slowly moved his cheeks and spoke.
“If I tell you, what will you do for me?”
“I won’t hit you.”
“Is that all?”
Grayson suddenly burst out laughing. Even though it was not a situation to laugh in. Does this man think I’m joking? Josh clenched his fists. Just as he thought he needed to make it clear he was serious, Grayson spoke, his voice still tinged with laughter.
“I don’t like being hit, so I guess I have to tell you. …Well, I was about to tell you anyway.”
He glanced at Steward and shrugged.
“Secrets don’t last forever, you know.”
Steward just gave a short laugh. Josh’s gaze shifted from Steward to Grayson. Grayson, with an arm over the back of the sofa, took out a cigarette and put it to his lips. Josh had to wait an endlessly long time for him to light the cigarette, inhale once, and then exhale a long, diffused stream of smoke.
“When Chase had his first rut, he didn’t have a partner. He was a shy adolescent boy.”
It was a description no one who knew the current Chase would believe. “Shy,” “adolescent,” “boy.” To Josh, who waited patiently, Grayson exhaled smoke like a sigh and then spoke.
“We brought Alex in a hurry, but he wasn’t much use. Chase couldn’t even get an erection and just fainted. We had no choice but to extract it with an injection. When he woke up, he didn’t remember, so I just told him that.”
“…What did you say?”
Josh blinked blankly. His words belatedly sank into his mind.
“So you mean that it wasn’t true, but you lied to him that it was? You made him think he had sex with a dog while he was unconscious?”
Grayson grumbled defensively.
“What else could I do? If I didn’t do that, he wouldn’t even think about extracting pheromones. If they keep building up, his brain will melt, he’ll go crazy.”
“But, even so… Isn’t that blackmail? You dragged him to an orgy even though he didn’t want to!”
Josh couldn’t forget the night Chase had a seizure after being forcibly dragged there and returning. Did this man know his brother was suffering so much?
But Grayson’s next words were even more surprising.
“Even so, he can’t do anything, that guy. Every time he resists to the end, he eventually loses consciousness.”
“…What did you say?”
Josh doubted his ears. What was this now? To Josh, who was blinking blankly, Grayson said calmly.
“He doesn’t want to do it with a dog, so he’s forced to come, but no matter what, he still refuses to do it with anyone. Then the pheromones build up, and he loses his mind, that guy. So we have no choice but to give him injections and forcibly extract them. That bastard always self-harms, saying he wallowed like trash, but…”
The reality was the opposite. Josh’s face turned pale at the unexpected truth. Seeing his bewildered expression, Grayson gave a wry smile.
“What else can I do if I can’t even give him an injection without doing that? If he doesn’t like it, he can date someone, right? He just needs to get through his rut. But he doesn’t want that either, Josh, my brother. He’s never dated anyone until now. Can you believe it? You can’t, right? But it’s true.”
Grayson rattled on quickly as if complaining, then shrugged and shook his head.
“He doesn’t want to just have sex, and he doesn’t want to date someone just for that purpose. But I can’t just let him sleep with anyone when he’s unconscious, it would be a huge problem if he got someone pregnant because he couldn’t control his situation. All that’s left is injections, but if he finds out about that, he’ll probably say he’ll just extract them with injections for the rest of his life? Then his arm will rot and he’ll have to have it amputated.”
Josh was speechless. His mind was completely tangled by the unexpected truth, and he couldn’t think straight. Grayson continued.
“Someday, when he accepts reality, he’ll be able to naturally release pheromones like other extreme Alphas. If this continues, we’ll really have no choice but to bring in a dog. Of course, that’s a last resort… because doing it with a dog isn’t hygienic either.”
He asked, “Isn’t that right?” and smiled. Instead of answering, Josh punched Grayson hard in the face.
You crazy bastard.
Josh gritted his teeth and pressed the accelerator. The speedometer shot up, but he still didn’t feel any better.
You crazy bastard, how could you say that with a smile?
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He should have just half-crippled him. If Steward hadn’t intervened later and forcibly pulled Josh away, it would have been worse. What was even more outrageous was that even then, Grayson provoked Josh.
“Why are you angry?”
He didn’t know if he was genuinely asking or trying to get under Josh’s skin, but one thing was certain: he smiled at Josh with a bloody face. How could he smile in that situation? Josh felt a chill and was completely disgusted with him.
Chase.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt sorry and upset. He couldn’t believe he had been suffering that pain ever since his manifestation. He had to go tell him. That he never did such a thing, that he was innocent. That even after losing consciousness, he never forcibly had relations with anyone.
Then.
Josh, who had thought that far, slammed on the brakes. With a sharp screech, the tires scraped the road and skidded. Sitting in the car, which had barely come to a stop, he blinked blankly.
Am I the only one who’s slept with Chase?
Josh’s eyes widened as he realized something he hadn’t even considered. No way, he hastily denied. But if Grayson’s words were true, then that too was a fact.
Chase has never had sex. His accumulated pheromones were always extracted only by injection.
“Such, unbelievable…”
Josh mumbled, lost in thought. But it was the truth. He sat in the driver’s seat for a long time, his mind completely blank.
When he returned to the filming location, it was much later than planned. Josh took two deep breaths before getting out of the car.
First, I need to tell him that the thing about the dog was a misunderstanding.
He walked towards the lodging, pondering how to explain it to Chase.
Then he’ll feel much more relieved. And.
And.
His mind couldn’t go any further. He didn’t even know what expression to face Chase with.
To think I was Chase’s only partner.
His heart had been complicated ever since he realized he had arbitrarily judged Chase as a jaded man.
Of course, it’s obvious, a man well over twenty being a virgin, does that even make sense?
However, for Chase, it made sense. Due to the trauma from his first rut, he couldn’t have normal sex. That much was understandable. But he had never even dated anyone—this was truly unbelievable.
Chase Miller is universally recognized as the most beautiful man in the world.
With all that money, fame, and good looks, how could this be? There were countless people who wouldn’t care if he had a flawed personality. This truly made no sense. Josh, who was shaking his head to deny it, paused.
Come to think of it.
He recalled Chase’s face, which would blush unusually often, and his flustered reaction to just a kiss. Sometimes he would be unusually flustered. How was he when Josh first gave him oral sex? Wasn’t he too excited? No, he was always too excited. And he would do it multiple times a night.
That’s how I was when I first discovered sex.
After thinking that far, Josh could no longer deny reality.
This is all Grayson Miller’s fault.
Josh redirected his anger and repeatedly clenched and unclenched his fists. His joints felt stiff, perhaps injured from beating Grayson, but he ignored it. He would think about what kind of face to make when he met Chase. First, he had to see Chase.
He forced his reluctant steps towards the trailer when suddenly his phone rang.
“Yes, Mark?”
He answered while still walking, and an anxious voice came from the other end.
[Josh, where are you now? Are you almost here?]
“Yes, I’m heading to C’s trailer, but what’s wrong?”
[Ah, good. Hurry up, it’s an emergency. Everyone’s gathered here.]
“Emergency? Did something happen to C?”
A chill ran down his spine, and his heart pounded anxiously. Mark took a deep breath on the other end and then said, “Yes.”
[C got K-worded.]
Chase was kidnapped.
After a moment of decoding, Josh unconsciously blurted out in a sharp voice.
“What did you say?”
