Kiss Me if You Can Novel - Chapter 72
“There’s a scar here too.”
Lying side by side in bed, Chase said, stroking the mark on Josh’s side with his finger. Josh replied casually.
“The guy who lost the match cowardly stabbed me. I had a bit of a hard time.”
“A match?”
“It was in high school. I played football for a bit.”
To a surprised Chase, Josh mischievously added.
“I was the quarterback. The year I played, our school beat our rival school by a huge score. This was retaliation for that.”
“Because you were the ace?”
“Of course.”
Chase, who had looked down at Josh’s conceited face, asked.
“Why did you quit? If you had continued, you’d be a superstar by now.”
Because I presented as an Omega.
Josh answered inwardly, then subtly lied.
“It got boring. If I had kept playing sports, I wouldn’t have met you, isn’t this better?”
He playfully stroked Chase’s stomach, then moved his hand lower. His still-wet penis reacted immediately with just a slight touch. Chase let out a low groan and immediately climbed on top of Josh.
“Are you usually this… open?”
“Are you usually this… active?”
When Josh returned the question, Chase paused, then spoke.
“After sleeping with you, everyone doesn’t want to leave, do they?”
“I wonder?”
Suddenly, a mischievous thought came to Josh, and he smiled slyly.
“There was someone who completely forgot about me after sleeping with me.”
“They slept with you and can’t remember?”
Chase looked genuinely shocked. Josh savored his expression and added.
“Yeah, absurd, right?”
“That’s truly unbelievable. They must have lied to you.”
“Thank you.”
Seeing Chase’s genuinely angry reaction gave Josh a strange feeling. That’s about you, you idiot. Chase hesitated for a moment, then spoke.
“Did you… date that person for a long time?”
Chase’s expression became serious. Thinking it was best to stop the dangerous topic, Josh subtly changed the subject.
“Don’t you know how rude it is to ask about the past in bed?”
As intended, Chase fell silent, and Josh spread his legs wide, opening himself up to make it easier for Chase to enter. The lower opening easily parted, softly embracing and sucking him in. Josh let out a satisfied sigh from deep in his throat, and Pete briefly flashed through his mind.
How shocked would this man be to hear that he has a child born from sex he can’t even remember?
He even felt as if he was being inconsiderate.
Anyway, when this job is over, this relationship will end too.
Just like last time.
If I say I’m leaving, will he try to hold me back this time?
“Ah…”
Josh let out a long groan and tightened his lower body.
@FunHap
Chase lay in the darkness, gazing at Josh’s deeply sleeping face. After several rounds, even this energetic man was completely exhausted. But still, if there was any suspicious movement, he would immediately open his eyes and tense his body. Chase had seen him do that countless times already.
While feeling deep affection for him, Chase couldn’t shake off an uneasy feeling.
This is just an obligation to this man.
The words he had heard earlier kept floating in his mind.
<I have no intention of living with anyone other than her. So give up.>
<I mean Pete’s mother.>
He didn’t know the exact details, but what was certain was that Josh had a woman. And who on earth was Pete? He didn’t want to believe it, but what if Josh was married or had someone else, yet still did this with Chase?
He had only heard part of the conversation, and from a distance, so all he really understood was the existence of someone named Pete and that Josh had a woman. With just those two pieces of information, all sorts of conjectures were possible, but Chase couldn’t imagine what came next.
But there was something else strange. Josh was clearly a Beta, so why did he have such a scar on his stomach?
Come to think of it, Josh’s body had quite a few scars, big and small. Even if he disregarded the recent injury, the sheer number of old scars was probably due to his profession. Perhaps the scar on his stomach was also one of those.
It must be a coincidence that the scar is in a similar place.
Feeling uneasy, he couldn’t find any other answer. More important than that was the existence of the woman Josh had. Who on earth was she? Only Josh could give him the answer, but Chase couldn’t bring himself to ask him.
What if he chooses that woman?
If that were true, Josh would probably just cut ties easily the moment he felt exposed.
<If you say such nonsense again, there will be no punishment or anything. I’ll just quit everything and disappear, so know that.>
What if I pretend not to know?
The moment Josh’s words came to mind, his suspicion turned into certainty. He would leave. Chase would undoubtedly be abandoned. In his fear, Chase hesitated to embrace Josh and thought.
Even if this man’s words were merely out of obligation, whatever the scar on his stomach means, whether he has a woman or a child.
Even if everything this man said was a lie, if I just pretend not to know and bury it.
Chase bit his lower lip hard, trying to swallow his trembling breath.
Then everything will be nothing.
That was the best he could do. His heart would be shattered, but it was better than Josh abandoning him and leaving. Chase firmed his resolve and embraced Josh. Josh embraced him back in his sleep. Chase felt his eyes sting, closed them, and tried his best to forget everything he had heard until the very end.
The night was endlessly long, and Chase did not sleep a wink until the long hours passed and dawn broke.
