How did he live after that?

After quitting his security job, he consciously tried to avoid news about Chase, but even if he tried to find out, it would have been impossible to dig into his private life. Until now, he had been too far away. But now it was different. Right before his eyes, Josh would observe Chase’s 24 hours in detail.

He suddenly became madly curious about him. How much had that man changed? The commercial he saw on the plane briefly came to mind. His captivating looks would be the same then as now.

“Orgy parties or whatever, his temper is the biggest problem.”

Henry gritted his teeth and muttered. Everyone had the same thought and lost their appetite. After that, they all got up from their seats, silently drinking only coffee.

The grand mansion where Chase lived was located at the innermost part of the country club, overlooking the beach. Following the stairs leading to the terrace, one would reach the sea, and the entire area, including the private beach, was owned by Chase Miller. There were no other houses nearby, and the only sound faintly heard was the regular crashing of waves.

“Welcome. We’ve been waiting.”

As soon as they saw Josh’s team, the security company previously in charge visibly relaxed and offered handshakes.

“Everyone needed a break, and the date kept getting postponed, so we were getting anxious. We have our limits, too…”

The security of True Alphas was mainly handled by Gammas. Because of strong pheromones, Betas or Alphas sometimes mutated into Omegas, so Gammas, who couldn’t smell pheromones at all and were thus largely unaffected by them, were highly specialized in this profession.

However, even Gammas couldn’t help but absorb pheromones through their skin, so it was common practice to get injections to remove accumulated pheromones at regular intervals or take long vacations like this to manage their condition. But this time, something seemed to have gone wrong with the schedule.

“Because they retired…”

The team leader’s troubled face spoke volumes. Mark opened his mouth, understanding.

“It must have been hard to find a replacement team, since Gammas are the fewest in number.”

“That’s also true, and if we mutate, we die or our lifespan shortens, as you already know.”

The team leader sighed and continued.

“Even if, in the worst case, we can’t find a replacement team, our team will be able to return in six months. So please bear with us until then.”

A few years ago, for a similar reason, Josh’s group had taken on Chase’s security. At that time, unfortunately, a Gamma who was in charge of security mutated. Because of that, the entire team went on emergency leave, creating a security vacuum, and they were urgently brought in temporarily.

It didn’t seem like this time would be any different. He doubted whether a replacement team could be found within three months. Everyone seemed to think the same, as Mark opened his mouth.

“So, we can assume it’s a maximum of six months, right? We also prefer certainty.”

“Yes… well, it probably won’t be extended further, probably.”

The team leader nodded, still leaving room for unforeseen circumstances. As they walked, following the team leader, they constantly looked around. Each of them surveyed the areas they would have to patrol. They checked for any particularly shaded or concealed spots, good vantage points for visibility, and possible entry routes if someone were to sneak in.

Just then, a woman whose eyes met Josh’s gave a slight nod. She was a member of the departing security team. Passing by, busy talking to another team member, she looked very anxious.

They would probably all leave before the afternoon. Without exception, every team member visible had an expression on their face that clearly said they wanted to leave this place as soon as possible.

Ah.

A faint sweet scent reached his nose. It wasn’t just Josh who felt it; he saw his teammates flinch here and there. The Gamma team leader was still walking indifferently, but the rest were all agitated.

“Damn it.”

Isaac cursed softly from behind. Everyone except Mark, who was a Beta, and Josh, who was an Omega, were Alphas. Nevertheless, the allure of the scent was so strong that even the Alpha members were annoyed.

“Josh, what’s wrong?”

Isaac asked, sensing something amiss. Josh hurriedly replied.

“Nothing, just a little nervous.”

Did I take my suppressants?

He barely recalled through his hazy consciousness. The reason Josh had been able to hide his identity and get along well with these members until now was that his pheromone scent was weak, and perhaps because of that, he wasn’t greatly affected by Alpha pheromones. It was especially true after he was marked. Before and after, Josh felt no discomfort as long as he was careful during his heat cycles.

Of course, that was before he smelled the pheromones of the person who marked him.

You’re all mine.

Josh finally understood the meaning of those words. It was absurd that the person who said it didn’t even remember it, yet could control him like this.

If he was this affected by just the lingering scent, he would have to take twice, no, three times the usual amount of medication when he started working properly. Because of the mark, Josh was affected by that man several times more strongly than others. He had known this, but he hadn’t realized it would be this intense.

He barely managed to suppress his dizziness and walk, when the team leader, walking ahead, offered him something.

“This is a candy we eat; it helps dilute the pheromones accumulated in the body. It’s good to eat it while working. We don’t really know, but they say the candy’s scent is so strong that you can’t smell the pheromones.”

Everyone picked up a candy from the team leader’s palm. Josh threw three into his mouth at once. He was so desperate he wanted to chew and swallow even the thin plastic wrapper around the candy.

“Ah, it’s spicy…”

The team leader tried to stop him, flustered, but it was too late. Suddenly, his nose stung, and his eyes flashed open. Tears welled up for a different reason than before. As he coughed repeatedly, Henry, who had turned back, clicked his tongue.

“What are you doing, you?”

Isaac, walking beside him, asked, flustered, “Are you okay?” Josh nodded with difficulty. His mouth felt numb, but thanks to that, his mind cleared.

They were casually looking around the house, guided by the team leader, when suddenly, a call came over the wireless. The team leader, who had briefly replied to the report through his earpiece, turned his head.

“Mr. Miller will arrive soon. Let’s all go.”

Everyone hurried, following his quick steps. Finally, they would meet that man. The reason his heart pounded so fiercely wasn’t just due to the brisk walk. Josh wandered through his ragged breaths. Would that man remember me? How much has he changed, or is he still the same?

How would I feel when I meet him again?

As they walked across the vast garden, the distant iron gate slowly opened with a heavy sound. Behind it, a jet-black sedan appeared.

Inside there.

He unconsciously swallowed dryly. Suddenly, the sedan stopped. Everyone looked puzzled and rushed closer. The reason became clear next.

“Paparazzi.”

As Mark’s murmur, like a soliloquy, turned their brisk walk into a run, the sedan door opened. And a man with brilliant blonde hair slowly emerged.

Ah.

For a moment, it felt as if the whole world had stopped. The few seconds that felt like an eternity were perhaps because Josh had forgotten to breathe.

The first thing that came into view was a chilling blue. Beyond the aquamarine, clearer than the sky, he stood.

He couldn’t have imagined someone wearing a suit of that color, nor had he ever thought it would suit anyone. But that man pulled it all off. Moreover, it was so incredibly stylish that it made him think, if there was a man who didn’t know his place, I’d want to try wearing it too.

His neatly combed natural blonde hair, his long, straight limbs, and his tightly closed, cool lips.

With his exceptionally fair skin, he should have appeared as pure and innocent as an angel, but instead, he evoked an eerie feeling, as if violently seizing a corner of one’s heart.

The reason was probably that chilling gaze. Eyes that seemed to be observing something, yet in reality saw nothing. Empty purple pupils.

With those eyes, he slowly surveyed his surroundings. For a moment, his gaze seemed to meet Josh’s, but of course, it was an illusion. The meaningless glance soon moved elsewhere, and that disappointed Josh.

A sigh, and he ran a hand through his disheveled hair, his face full of ennui. When he lifted his head, Josh realized that a cigarette was held between his slightly parted red lips. Chase moved the hand that had brushed his hair to the cigarette.

His long, slender fingers with well-manicured, square nails came into Josh’s sight. For a moment, a red flame seemed to flare up, and then the cigarette held between his fingers tilted to one side. Its long, white body, barely smoked, slipped from his fingers and plummeted downwards.

Chase’s eyes briefly fixed on one spot. Suddenly, he narrowed his eyes.

“Mr. Miller.”

Just as the former security team leader hastily approached and tried to say something, a sharp, continuous burst of camera shutters rang out. Everyone paused in surprise, and then Chase suddenly smiled faintly. For a moment, Josh felt a chill run down his spine.

Soon after, he began to walk. Everyone held their breath and focused their gaze on Chase. His body, drawing elegant lines, moved gracefully and smoothly as if swimming through the air. He seemed to have no interest in anything else, focusing solely on one thing.

As Josh watched him, mesmerized, Chase’s elegant hand slipped inside his suit jacket, then pulled something out.

Josh wasn’t the only one who realized it was the Desert Eagle that Chase Miller favored.

“Idiot, get out of the way!”

Mark shouted urgently, the former security team yelled something and ran, and Chase extended his arm.

Losing himself was only for a fleeting moment. He walked with long strides, then, boldly, without even trying to escape, aimed his gun at the man who was continuously taking photos.

Purebloods born between True Alphas and True Omegas. Thanks to this, the Miller siblings, all True Alphas, were each given nicknames comparing them to different animals. Among them, the eldest, a lawyer, resembled his father the most and was also called the White Snake, like his father.

And this man, the third child, his nickname was…

Bang!

Mad Dog.

With a loud gunshot, the paparazzi dropped his camera and stumbled, falling. Shards of the camera and red blood splattered everywhere, chillingly catching his eye. Chase didn’t stop there. He walked towards the man, who was sitting down, pale with fright, and hastily scooting backward on his bottom, and aimed his gun again.

When he saw the Mad Dog of the Miller family again, Josh realized to his bones that this man had not changed at all, even after several years.
