Kiss Me if You Can Novel Completed - Chapter 31
But Chase, thankfully, didn’t give him the chance. He suddenly got up as if he had come to his senses. This time, Josh was the one who reacted slowly. Chase casually brushed off his hair and clothes. Josh awkwardly got up, feeling embarrassed.
Indeed, from this man’s perspective, it would be strange if he didn’t hit him right now. If it were his usual personality, he would be furious and do who knows what for doing something he didn’t order. Even if he had given his consent, if his mood had changed, he was the kind of man who would take out his anger without hesitation. Moreover, a chill ran down his spine when he realized he had almost kissed him.
I almost died.
Josh became abruptly cold as he realized this man had genuinely almost killed him. But even though he had returned to reality, he couldn’t take his eyes off Chase.
A lingering blush still remained on his cheeks. Even his languid expression after ejaculation was enough to drive Josh crazy.
His lower body, which he had barely calmed, reacted. Josh, flustered, quickly took a deep breath and forced his gaze elsewhere. He swallowed his ragged breaths, when suddenly, Chase turned his head.
More precisely, he only glanced, but Josh was startled for a fleeting moment, as if his heart had stopped.
Fortunately, he didn’t need CPR. Chase immediately turned and walked away. Following him quickly, Josh belatedly remembered.
“If you’re going back now, I’ll prepare the car.”
“Do it.”
Chase merely tossed out a short remark. As he began to walk with large strides, Josh contacted Mark from behind him. After relaying the message, he chased after Chase again, and the events of moments ago felt like a dream.
But it was real. As proof, the handkerchief he had used to wipe Chase’s semen was in his pocket. It had already stiffened somewhat, feeling crisp.
Josh unconsciously gripped the handkerchief, then slowly unfolded it.
Maybe I just wanted to do it.
He thought again.
Maybe I tricked this man with plausible words because I wanted to.
Chase continued to walk without looking back. His cold profile, completely different from the one distorted by suppressed excitement, briefly appeared in Josh’s sight. Josh suddenly wanted to see that face again.
“Ah, Mr. Miller.”
He had already returned to the mansion, but he didn’t stop. Pittman’s butler, who spotted Chase, greeted him, but he just walked past. He truly charged forward like a rhinoceros, looking only ahead.
“Mr. Miller, wait a moment!”
Josh, who was following, urgently shouted. Still walking quickly, Josh ran and blocked his path.
“Please wait until the car is ready. It won’t take long.”
Only then did Chase stop and look down at Josh. His breathing was as ragged as Josh’s.
“What are you waiting for, you son of a bitch?”
Chase gritted his teeth and spat out. Josh, startled, hastily added,
“They’re preparing it now, so we just need to confirm if it’s ready. Is that not alright?”
Haa, haa.
Even though Chase covered his mouth with one hand, his rough breathing was still undeniable. Seeing his bewildered, trembling eyes, Josh continued.
“I’ll contact them right away, so please try to calm your breathing in the meantime.”
Chase frowned. His voice, surprisingly clear amidst the hazy excitement that still hadn’t subsided, echoed in his ears.
Does this damn bastard think I’m a fool? What kind of trick is this?
He thought, but didn’t actually say anything. Josh, somewhat relieved by his reaction, gripped Chase’s arm tightly, then released it, as if to say, Trust me. Chase blinked in disbelief.
“You bastard, who are you touching now…!”
He gritted his teeth, but he was a step too late. Josh had already contacted Mark and informed him of the situation. Chase glared at him with a frown as he asked if he was ready to leave. Josh hung up and turned around, then spoke.
“It’s ready. Let’s go.”
Chase flinched and took a step back. Josh tilted his head in confusion. Chase himself didn’t understand why he had done that. He thought he was in terrible condition right now. He brushed his hair back with a faintly trembling hand and thought,
If I don’t go back right now, who knows what will happen.
“Mr. Miller, are you feeling unwell again?”
Josh asked. He looked at Chase seriously, as if genuinely concerned. But Chase had no intention of telling the truth. He rubbed his bloodshot eyes irritably and spat out,
“Shut up. Just guide me. What can someone like you do, you fucking bastard?”
“…Alright.”
Josh didn’t ask further and strode ahead down the long corridor. Chase frowned, forcibly suppressing his increasingly rapid breaths, and also walked with large strides.
Finally, when they passed through the damn large mansion’s entrance and went outside again, Chase thought he could finally leave this dreadful place. That briefly made him lower his guard, and thanks to that, he was surprised and his eyes widened when he heard an unexpected sound.
“Mr. Miller?”
Josh called his name once more. But what Chase heard was something else.
Surely not, no way.
Half in doubt, Chase stood frozen. Cold sweat ran down his back. As he doubted his ears, a sharp dog bark echoed from somewhere, as if mocking him.
“…!”
Chase’s entire body instantly stiffened. Pale and completely still, he finally managed to breathe after a few seconds of blankness. However, the fear filling his anxiously trembling eyes could not be hidden.
“Oh, I apologize. Were you surprised?”
Pittman’s bodyguard approached and apologized.
“We released a few guard dogs for the party. It would be a big problem if paparazzi or uninvited guests snuck in and bothered the guests. They are well-trained dogs, so you don’t have to worry. They won’t easily attack or anything… Mr. Miller? Are you alright?”
He asked again, puzzled, calling Chase’s name. Only then did Chase flinch and snap back to reality. The dog’s bark echoed again, but the dog itself was nowhere to be seen.
He looked around once, then ran a trembling hand through his hair. A short sigh, as if exhaling a blocked breath, followed.
Suddenly, dizziness washed over him, and Chase closed his eyes and tilted his head back. He waited for the dizziness to subside for a moment, then moved his body slowly, somewhat drained, unlike before.
Josh, who had hastily opened the back door of the car and waited, paused when he saw Chase lean his head against the car window and close his eyes as soon as he settled into the seat.
He watched him for a moment, and then Chase’s breathing became ragged again, and his pale cheeks flushed. Josh frowned.
“Mr. Miller, will you be alright?”
Josh asked, but it wasn’t really a time to worry about others. He himself was on the verge of death from Chase’s pheromones, which had been continuously flowing in since earlier. He needed to go back quickly, but Isaac and Henry were still nowhere to be found.
Chase, feeling stuffy, violently loosened the bowtie around his neck. The moment he saw him snatching at his shirt buttons, Josh hastily backed away from the car. Ignoring Josh’s reaction, Chase urgently opened the refrigerator door and took something out.
As he saw him pouring pills from a small bottle into his mouth and gulping down water, a familiar voice came from behind him.
“What happened? These bastards.”
Just then, Mark cursed slowly and looked around. Josh quickly tore his gaze from Chase, suppressed his gasping breaths, and took out two candies, chewing them all at once. Just as Mark, furious, was about to make another call, Isaac appeared at an uncanny timing.
“I apologize, something came up for a moment.”
At Isaac’s apology, Mark turned his gaze to Henry, who had followed behind him.
“Both of you had something come up at the same time?”
Isaac wore a troubled expression but said nothing. Henry was the same. Mark groaned, then spoke in a rough voice.
“Let’s talk about it when we get back. Both of you better be prepared.”
Leaving their posts during guard duty was unthinkable. Josh thought they deserved to be demoted or face an even harsher punishment.
But Isaac and Henry remained silent. Josh was dumbfounded by their lack of excuses, but work came first now. Moreover, Chase was not in good condition. Mark also knew that.
“Everyone hurry, let’s go.”
There was no time to find his secretary to go back, so Mark called Laura instead. After telling her to go home separately, Mark immediately headed for the driver’s seat of the front car.
Josh, heading for the back car, habitually sat in the driver’s seat, then immediately regretted it. But as he was about to get out, Isaac was already in the passenger seat. Before he could switch places, Henry got into the front car and left. Josh had no choice but to follow and start the car.
He kept his gaze fixed on the road and just drove. Silence filled the car, but Josh didn’t bother to speak. It was Isaac who broke the silence.
“Why do you have so much pheromone on you?”
At the unexpected question, Josh unconsciously glanced at him, then quickly turned his gaze back to the front.
“What are you talking about?”
He feigned ignorance without realizing it. He understood the meaning of the words, of course. His crotch had been wet and uncomfortable for a while now, driving him crazy. Isaac said with a serious face.
“It seems like C’s pheromones… There’s a lot of scent coming from you. What happened? Did something happen while I was away?”
His voice was full of anxiety. Josh, feeling irritable, retorted gruffly.
“If you were worried, you shouldn’t have left your post.”
Isaac flinched. Since he had spoken the truth, Josh had no intention of apologizing. Instead, he opened the car window, and a strong wind rushed in. It felt as if some of the pheromone scent was being blown away from his body. Isaac seemed to ponder for a moment, then spoke.
“I intended to come back quickly… I’m sorry.”
“…”
“I didn’t know you’d run into C.”
This time, Josh didn’t understand the hidden meaning in his words, so he answered carelessly.
“I was just looking around.”
“…You smell entirely of C’s pheromones.”
Isaac muttered again. Josh still said casually,
“I’ll just go wash up.”
He was impatient because the front car was driving too slowly. His fingers, which instinctively wanted to tap the steering wheel, unnaturally tensed as he tried to resist. While trying to appear as nonchalant as possible on the outside, Josh frantically recalled the suppressants he had hidden.
An awkward silence fell. Josh, afraid of revealing his anxiety, preempted.
“Both of you are going to get a serious scolding from Mark.”
“Yeah.”
Isaac replied.
“I guess so.”
Yet, he remained indifferent. Josh’s mind was soon filled only with thoughts of the suppressants. He didn’t say another word after that, and neither did Isaac.
