Flowers Are Bait Novel - Chapter 84
At the unexpected topic, her eyes shook uncontrollably. The man pulled away and looked down at Yiyeon.
At the helpless distance that had opened up, Yiyeon merely blinked like a child who had dropped a candy.
His pitch-black eyes, devoid of emotion, felt unfamiliar. She unconsciously swallowed, taken aback by the sudden change in atmosphere. Her hand twitched, wanting to turn on the light immediately and confirm Kwon Chaewoo’s gentle, light brown eyes.
“You’ll have to choose your words very carefully from now on.”
“…Chaewoo?”
“Ms. Yiyeon, have you ever sucked a dick?”
“What?”
It sounded like a foreign language she had never heard before.
The man seemed to gently caress her lips, then left a crescent-shaped mark with his fingernail. Yiyeon quickly stepped back at the stinging sensation, but Kwon Chaewoo, not missing the fleeting moment, pulled her back. Her restrained wrist throbbed.
“It’s okay, it won’t be difficult. You’re good at that, aren’t you, Ms. Yiyeon?”
“Chaewoo, what are you saying—”
“You just have to move your tongue however you want.”
“……!”
Suddenly, goosebumps rose, making her entire scalp tingle.
“So answer me well.”
He lowered his voice secretively. The unfamiliar vocal range finally left ripples in her chest.
“What would you do if I killed Kwon Giseok?”
“……!”
“Would you still like me, Ms. Yiyeon?”
What on earth did this mean? Yiyeon couldn’t read the gaps he had skipped.
Even though their faces were close, she couldn’t see him, and their voices went back and forth, but it wasn’t the conversation she had expected.
The wall of another person, felt after a long time.
Yiyeon nervously clenched her palms. On such a good day, she didn’t want him to see that she was afraid of Kwon Chaewoo.
“…Chaewoo, I don’t really understand what you’re suddenly saying.”
“I asked what you would do if I killed Kwon Giseok.”
The voice that flowed out casually was so calm that it felt even more alien. Indeed, she hadn’t misheard. Yiyeon spoke immediately with dry lips.
“First, I’ll turn on the living room light.”
It was the moment she turned towards the switch, as if to avoid the situation. Kwon Chaewoo roughly grabbed Yiyeon’s face, perhaps interpreting her action. Their noses bumped as if crushed.
“Is that your answer, Ms. Yiyeon?”
“What?”
“Turning your back on me right now seems to mean only one thing.”
“No, no. I just wanted to look at your face and talk…!”
“Say it here.”
Kwon Chaewoo’s subtly coercive manner kept making Yiyeon blank out. When their eyes met, he was too dark, too close. It felt as if a huge mass was devouring her. In her bewilderment, words she hadn’t thought through suddenly slipped out.
“…Is that really Chaewoo?”
His hand loosened for a moment, then a strong grip tightened around her again. Yiyeon’s gaze was forcibly fixed.
“If I’m not your husband, then what am I?”
His blind gaze and tone were no different from before.
“Who made me like this and polished me?”
“B-but why…”
“You smell like cigarettes, like someone who’s been in a confined space.”
He tilted his head and lightly put his nose to Yiyeon’s earlobe.
“And I think I know that it’s Kwon Giseok.”
“……!”
“Because I didn’t just obediently wait for you today, Ms. Yiyeon. No matter how I think about it, being a house dog doesn’t suit my temper.”
Suddenly, she realized that Kwon Chaewoo was carefully observing her reaction. It was evident in the man’s breath, which couldn’t be heard despite their close proximity, and in his gaze, which slowly roamed Yiyeon’s face.
The longer she delayed her answer, the longer this strange standoff seemed to last. However, Yiyeon, seeing the somehow unstable Kwon Chaewoo, decided to put her tumultuous feelings aside for a moment.
Of course, he would be frustrated and angry.
Waking up after a month and seeing the date so different, seeing everything except himself moving forward and changing little by little, would be irritating enough.
Believing that Kwon Chaewoo was experiencing such a standstill, she gently stroked the back of his hand.
“…Do you remember what I said before? That I want Chaewoo to only see beautiful and good things. I’m a person who saves trees, I can’t help with, uh, that kind of aftermath.”
Yiyeon continued speaking, glancing at his eyes.
“So if, if you were curious about my opinion, I’m against it. Killing, that, don’t even think such a harsh thought. I’m only going to plant flowers in my front yard.”
“…….”
“And if you’re asking about my feelings, ethically I might mourn Mr. Kwon Giseok, but I’ll soon forget him. We were less than strangers, and I actually like trees more than people. But—”
She paused for a moment and took a breath.
“…I’m worried about myself. That I’ll hesitate when I touch Chaewoo.”
“……!”
Kwon Chaewoo’s body stiffened instantly, which she felt clearly through their touching skin.
“That I’ll be scared and falter when I kiss and hug Chaewoo.”
“…….”
“Do you want me to be like that, Chaewoo?”
Yiyeon looked directly at him, her voice trembling. Then the man let out something that was either a hollow laugh or a breath, and tossed her face away as if discarding it. She immediately rubbed her tingling temple, glancing at him.
Kwon Chaewoo was already standing far away, rubbing his face with one hand. He looked annoyed, making Yiyeon’s heart sink. He had always been direct and simple, but suddenly he felt difficult and overwhelmed.
“…Chaewoo. First, let’s go to the hospital for a check-up—”
“Check-up? What check-up?”
His voice, cutting her off sharply, sounded quite rebellious. Yiyeon unconsciously extended one hand, keeping a safe distance from him. She approached cautiously, step by step, as if approaching a growling dog.
“Well… it’s natural to be confused after waking up suddenly after a month. The doctor also asked me to call him as soon as Chaewoo woke up, and… Chaewoo, you seem very sensitive right now. I understand it’s hard to adapt suddenly.”
“So you think I’m not normal?”
Kwon Chaewoo scoffed pointedly, staring at her.
“My mind has never been clearer than it is today.”
“…That’s a relief.”
Yiyeon nervously clasped her hands together. The conversation broke, the two stood awkwardly for a while.
Kwon Chaewoo scrutinized the woman’s features, body, and even the shape of her fingernails as if looking at unfamiliar foreign characters, and Yiyeon, unsure what to do under his blatant gaze, finally turned towards the bedroom.
“Chaewoo, then… I’ll go wash up first.”
She flapped her T-shirt as if fanning herself. Yiyeon looked back several times as she walked. Something more unsettling than dried sweat tugged at the back of her head, but the man only nodded without any particular reaction.
It was only after the bathroom door closed that Kwon Chaewoo finally exhaled the breath he had been holding. The face that had barely been acting as her husband hardened coldly. It was a change in the blink of an eye.
“So this is how I was enchanted all this time.”
Her scent was the first hurdle. The subtly sweat-tinged smell was especially stimulating, and he almost buried his lips in her neck and licked every inch of it.
Moreover, when her soft breasts pressed against some part of his abdomen, his mind greatly stirred. It seemed playing the role of a good husband was not as easy as he thought.
Just then, the door burst open, and Yiyeon rushed out of the bedroom. The man quickly brushed off the frost that had remained on his face, and she, with reddened ears, breathed heavily.
“Chaewoo, perhaps…!”
Her urgent voice was laced with tension. Yiyeon licked her chapped lips and hugged her arm tightly, as if pressing down a throbbing pulse. She had just thought of another hypothesis.
“Was I being insensitive?”
Kwon Chaewoo’s eyes narrowed warily for a moment.
“Dick, no, no, I mean, that part, was it something you actually wanted to try, and I was just dense? Did you need that, Chaewoo?”
“……!”
“If we… do it after a long time…”
“…….”
“Will your mind calm down a bit?”
How would the idiotic Kwon Chaewoo have answered in a situation like this?
He recalled the report Jang Beomhee had shown him, replaying their conversation style, but he couldn’t find an appropriate answer. Meanwhile, his lower body had stiffened, as if a heavy fist was pushing up his pants.
Damn it, I’m going crazy. He bit back a curse.
His body reacted too quickly, far too quickly. Kwon Chaewoo stared at the woman’s red lips, barely managing to act like a gentle husband.
“…It’s not like that, so hurry up and wash up.”
“Then we’re not doing it today?”
He looked up at the ceiling as if he had choked.
“…We’ve, we’ve fallen behind a lot.”
Leaving that one remark, Yiyeon slipped back into the bathroom. Kwon Chaewoo closed and opened his trembling eyelids, trying to suppress the cruel temper that threatened to bloom. Despite his efforts, a desire for conquest, far removed from affection, finally reared its head.
“Ha, that one’s really trying to die.”
