Eighteen’s Bed Novel Completed - Chapter 70
In the end, I didn’t want to change clothes in the bustling crowd, so I waited until the class was empty.
Our class had finished closing remarks unusually quickly, so the hallway was empty, and Class 1’s classroom, in turn, discharged boys with a stale smell, like water draining down a sewer. As the hallway calmed down, I finally managed to change into my uniform.
By the time I had finished changing, I heard the sound of other classes finishing their closing remarks.
I slowly picked up my bag. I had to hurry to avoid bumping into the kids with my slow pace.
My steps slowed because I tried not to put pressure on the sole of my foot. My body quickly tired from the weight being shifted to one side. My foot hurt too. Why did I, like an idiot, step on glass there? No, what bastard stole my shoes and put me in this state? As I thought about that, Han Taesan’s words came to mind again.
‘Go to the trash dump.’
Those words kept bothering me.
As I chewed on Han Taesan’s words and walked with difficulty, I felt a gaze. I suddenly raised my head.
Surprisingly, Go Yohan was there.
He was sitting on the stairs as if waiting for someone. And as soon as he saw me, he awkwardly stood up. Our gazes met uncomfortably. To be honest, Go Yohan’s gaze scared me. He had ignored me until now, so what was he going to do now?
This was all because Han Taesan, who had been confusing my head, whispered again.
‘My beginning was also a soccer ball that fell from the window.’
And Park Dongcheol is a fervent fan of Go Yohan.
Ah, damn it. This was it. So that’s what it was.
Despair weighed heavily on my mind. My feet, finally realizing the truth, took a step back. Go Yohan, seeing my movement, spoke first. Very, slightly, in fact, a little too hurriedly.
“That… leg.”
What was he trying to say? Should I answer that now? I opened my mouth, then firmly closed it again. The beginning was a soccer ball that fell from the window. The soccer ball that hit my face. Go Yohan, who said nothing.
I took another step back.
“…”
I could never tell what Go Yohan was thinking. But fortunately, I knew a lot about Go Yohan. Go Yohan was good at acting, and he was smart. And he loved tormenting others terribly.
I didn’t want to waver yet.
I stared at Go Yohan, who was standing on the stairs, as firmly as possible. I tried not to let any emotion show, not to look scared, not to look weak. And my efforts always succeeded, as if to prove it.
“…”
I walked forward, looking at Go Yohan quite haughtily. Go Yohan wiped his palms on his pants and looked at me. He seemed to like that I was approaching a little.
Did he like it because he could torment me?
I forced myself to move. Go Yohan’s scent filled my nose. For a moment, a blank thought that made my head spin pressed down on me, but I desperately endured it. And so, I passed Go Yohan. I went down the stairs as if to show him. That was the most I could ignore him.
“…Ouch.”
My legs trembled as I went down the stairs. The sole of my foot, where the skin hadn’t grown back yet, ached. Go Yohan was no longer visible. Still, I walked with composure. I didn’t want to show weakness to anyone, and especially not to Go Yohan. No matter how foolish it seemed, that was the motivation and strength that had kept me going until now.
To correct my posture, I had to straighten my back.
To straighten my back, I had to evenly distribute my weight across the entire sole of my foot. However, my foot was not in good condition, and my arm was not good for balance. It was solely my willpower that allowed me to descend the stairs calmly without wavering.
Finally, the first floor was filled with students. I looked at the boisterous crowd.
“These damn teachers, why do they give out homework like this?”
“Ah-! Damn it, what did you put in your shoe? Is that an insole?”
“Hi, this is really noisy. Just move aside for a moment.”
“Want to stop by the bookstore before the academy? I need to buy a workbook.”
“First, the latecomer buys the pork stir-fry!”
I looked at the crowd, who had been friendly to me until now, and recently, if not friendly, at least not hostile. I straightened my shoulders and didn’t close my eyes. I calmly exhaled.
Let’s walk. Let’s walk with composure.
Let’s not show anyone the Kang Jun who trembled with fear after encountering Go Yohan. Let’s always remain the haughty Kang Jun. It was the moment I gritted my teeth and took a step.
“Hey!! Kang Jun!!!”
Go Yohan’s scream-like shout echoed down the stairs. I heard the sound of Go Yohan’s rosary hitting the railing. The chaos, which had been like a free-for-all, instantly subsided. Those who knew Kang Jun looked at me, and those who didn’t looked around and then at where the gazes were converging.
I clenched my hand, hidden by the cast.
“What…?”
The murmurs grew, and the gazes intensified. The emotion I felt at that moment was genuine fear.
I felt as if Go Yohan was tightly pressed against my back. It felt as if Go Yohan’s large hand was pressing down on my shoulder. The pressure surged with nausea. The more despairing fact was that nearly a hundred people were staring at me.
“…”
Hundreds of eyes, whose thoughts I couldn’t fathom, were looking at me. My legs truly gave out. The silence deepened, and then Go Yohan’s tearing voice spread through the school.
“You bastard!!!”
Fortunately, at that moment, I didn’t lower my head, nor did I avoid the gaze of the crowd. Hundreds of heads moved with my movement. Yet, I walked composedly through the crowd. Only then did I realize that my nightmare had just begun.
