Eighteen’s Bed Novel Completed - Chapter 55
Before I could finish my sentence, Kim Minho shouted. Because of that, hundreds of gazes in the cafeteria turned towards us. I quietly cursed under my breath and lowered my head. Oh, how embarrassing.
In the meantime, Go Yohan picked up his tray and slowly stood up. Yet, a clearly taunting expression lingered on his gloomy, cold face as he looked at the four.
“Why are you suddenly making a sound like a pig being slaughtered? Your voice is unpleasant, so could you please be quiet?”
And then he tilted his head slightly and said,
“Jun, if you’re done eating, stand up. Let’s go.”
“Oh, yeah.”
I was already ready to stand up without being told. Nothing good would come from sitting here. I was rather grateful to Go Yohan for creating an opportunity to leave. At his blatant disregard, Kim Minho lost his words, only flapping his mouth, then suddenly stood up and shouted again.
“These bastards, are they ignoring me now?”
Oh. How embarrassing. I felt the gazes intensify and turned my head. I didn’t want to be here. Go Yohan openly exhaled roughly, sweeping his gaze over Kim Minho with a pathetic expression. And I read Go Yohan’s cunningness. Go Yohan clearly inherited his father’s blood. Definitely. Go Yohan lowered his slender eyes and scanned the four. A snake-like smile flowed across his face.
“Lee Seokhyun. Kim Seokmin.”
“…”
He called out the names of the guys he had openly ignored just moments ago, in a friendly tone. And he specifically picked out Kim Seokmin and Lee Seokhyun.
“Want to come with?”
“…Huh?”
“The convenience store. Are you going?”
Kim Seokmin and Lee Seokhyun looked at each other, then at the fuming Kim Minho, and finally at me and Go Yohan. Their gazes intertwined among the four. Go Yohan had thrown a stone into the water, and the fish that reacted fastest was Lee Seokhyun.
“Oh? Oh, oh. I’ll go.”
Lee Seokhyun immediately stood up. And he walked towards us without hesitation, waving his hand at Kim Minho along the way, showing a casual gesture to calm him down. Kim Minho’s face was distorted, but Lee Seokhyun only looked a little awkward. He didn’t seem to have any intention of changing his mind.
“Hey. Lee Seokhyun. Where are you going!”
“Minho. I’ll call you later. Call.”
“You son of a bitch. Where are you going! Don’t you know you’ll just get dumped by those bastards if you go now?”
“Ah. We have to fix this atmosphere, don’t we? I’ll talk to Yohan nicely, okay?”
Lee Seokhyun gave Kim Minho a signal only they would understand. At that, Kim Minho stopped his fuming gestures and plopped down onto the chair. Yet, he didn’t stop cursing and grumbling things like ‘son of a bitch,’ ‘jerk,’ and all sorts of ‘bastard.’ Kim Seokmin patted Kim Minho and turned his head towards Lee Seokhyun. Lee Seokhyun subtly beckoned Kim Seokmin with a small hand gesture. Kim Minho, who had been unable to control his anger and was muttering curses, eventually spat words of resentment at Kim Seokmin too.
“If you’re going, you go too, you son of a bitch!”
Kim Seokmin kept looking around nervously. But as we started to move, Kim Seokmin quickly patted Kim Minho’s shoulder and said,
“Then Minho. See you during break time.”
“Hey! You!”
Kim Minho shrieked, as if he hadn’t expected him to actually leave. Still, I thought the most pathetic one there wasn’t Kim Minho, but Park Dongcheol, who wasn’t even mentioned. Park Dongcheol was the only one sitting next to Kim Minho, looking at us with envy.
“…”
As soon as Kim Minho disappeared from sight, Kim Seokmin brightened up again. He’s such a birdbrain, isn’t he? Out of sight, out of mind. Kim Seokmin subtly teased Go Yohan, glancing at him occasionally.
“Hey. You really shouldn’t have done that earlier. Damn it. I was so hurt.”
“Oh.”
Go Yohan put his arm around Kim Seokmin’s neck. It looked like a joke, but it was a typical tactic used to subtly overpower someone. Go Yohan, in a way, was quite typical. Lee Seokhyun, as always, intervened between the two, only teasing in a way that wasn’t too annoying.
So, Go Yohan had sown distrust in the friendship of the four with just one moment of mischief. What Kim Seokmin and Lee Seokhyun would babble about when they returned was none of our concern or interest.
And to think that the ones left alone to badmouth us were Kim Minho and Park Dongcheol. There was no comedy like this. Suddenly, Kim Minho and Park Dongcheol, solidified by a flimsy friendship? Where could there be such an ironic combination? Go Yohan was truly malicious.
His true intention of not picking just one person, but bringing two, was also quite wicked. One person might be afraid to step forward for fear of being excluded from the group, but with two, the situation is different. That was why Lee Seokhyun could stand up immediately, and Kim Seokmin could follow us. The friendship of two people in the same situation becomes stronger. They become accomplices, partners.
Yes. Just like me and Go Yohan.
After arriving at the convenience store, while Kim Seokmin and Lee Seokhyun were busy snatching snacks from each other, Go Yohan quietly approached me. In Go Yohan’s hand was a piece of bread filled with chocolate. His long, slender fingers slowly peeled back the wrapper. As he peeled the transparent wrapper, his eyes, looking at me, were strangely filled with lust. Was it because of his gaze? I felt as if my shirt was being stripped off, and I hastily clutched my collar.
Long fingers dug into the wrapper. He gently held the soft surface of the bread. Yet, his gaze, fixed on me, did not waver. My gaze fell to the wooden floor, where the ends were peeling up.
After his feelings were exposed, Go Yohan changed in a strange direction.
Between the vertically peeled wrapper, dark bread appeared. Go Yohan slowly placed the bread below my lips. I decided to ignore that regrettable temptation. I subtly smiled to avoid looking strange to everyone and grabbed half of the bread not held by Go Yohan. A line appeared between Go Yohan’s brows. He didn’t like it, it seemed. I curled the corners of my lips and split the bread.
Chocolate oozed out through the split gap. It flowed down Go Yohan’s hand. I put the bread that had come into my grasp into my mouth. Then I subtly leaned back and gave Go Yohan an even wider smile.
“It’s delicious.”
Go Yohan stared blankly at the flowing chocolate. The chocolate flowed down his forearm and seeped into his shirt. Go Yohan’s gaze, conversely, moved upwards. Chocolate, arm, hand, bread, and me. Go Yohan reached out again and rubbed the soft bread against my lips. Ugh. Chocolate squeezed between my lips and crawled in. I licked the chocolate from the corner of my mouth and frowned.
“I’m full.”
Meaning, stop it already. That’s what I meant, but Go Yohan only looked regretful.
“I was going to… feed you.”
“Are you stupid?”
Go Yohan was careless. It was a trait born from Go Yohan’s nature of disliking troublesome things. Go Yohan often didn’t think deeply.
“That’s why you got caught. You should have been more careful.”
“Oh, like you?”
Isn’t he afraid of getting caught? A chill ran down my spine at his brazen actions, which were so obvious. The bread mashed on my lips went into Go Yohan’s mouth. Go Yohan chuckled, raising his chocolate-smeared lips. He was mocking the lie I told last night. I had expected it since the moment he used my exact words as an excuse, but hearing him confirm it was a lie made me feel bad. I subtly nudged Go Yohan’s shin and said,
“Be quiet.”
Go Yohan didn’t even wince, let alone feel tickled, but only glanced at the spot where I kicked his foot. That was it. My pride was a little hurt. Why is he so big and strong? I pouted my lower lip.
“I kicked you lightly on purpose.”
“Oh, really?”
Go Yohan suddenly seemed to have a good idea and raised one eyebrow. And then, abruptly, he bent at the waist. I felt puzzled by his sudden action. For now, I kept my mouth shut and watched, observing the situation. Go Yohan smiled, revealing his fangs. And then he grabbed the part I had kicked.
“It hurts?”
“What?”
“Jun. I’m in so much pain.”
His cold eyes drooped. His face, putting on all sorts of pitiful airs, hid a lie. Sly Go Yohan. I reached down and pushed Go Yohan’s bangs down. It was to cover his eyes.
“Stop lying and let’s get up now.”
“Wow. You hit me and then you’re so brazen.”
There was no playfulness at all. Now he’s even acting. But if he acts that much, I have nothing to say. I crossed my arms and asked,
“So what? What do you want me to do?”
“Wipe it for me.”
Go Yohan extended his hand. His five fingers, spread out towards me, bloomed like a flower. I smelled a sweet spring scent from Go Yohan’s hand. His shirt was already smeared with chocolate. It was the result of Go Yohan’s carelessness, as he didn’t mind trivial things. Why did he move his hand so much with chocolate dripping from it? I blamed Go Yohan for no reason. I’d have to throw away the shirt entirely.
“No.”
“Why?”
“It looks strange. People will look at us strangely.”
“Not at all.”
Go Yohan frowned.
“Does wiping chocolate off a friend’s shirt seem strange to you?”
He’s just taking it for granted that I should do it. As I quietly listened to Go Yohan’s words, which always leaped in logic, a sudden question arose. I had thought it was strange before. I also wanted to ask. I felt that now was the perfect time to clear up that curiosity.
“Yohan.”
“Hm?”
“Why do you act strangely yourself?”
“Strange actions?”
“Why do you let people look down on you? Don’t you think that’s a very foolish thing to do?”
In my words, Go Yohan narrowed his brows. After resting his chin on his hand, Go Yohan seemed to ponder for a moment, then replied,
“Why do you think Han Junwoo lost to me?”
