Desire Me If You Can Novel - Chapter 128
Seeing Grayson’s reaction, Dane still frowned and asked.
“Or is it that you always give a present to whoever you sleep with during your rut?”
“Uh… well…”
Grayson faltered, unable to answer immediately. He had clearly hit a nerve with Dane. The happiness he had felt a moment ago vanished like dust, replaced by fear.
What if Dane refuses to talk to me again? What if he gets angry and tells me to get out of his sight right now? What am I supposed to say?
“Miller.”
“Uh, yeah, yeah.”
Dane called him again. Grayson looked at him with a start, and Dane, still frowning but speaking with his usual indifference, said.
“I’m just asking out of curiosity, I’m not angry at you.”
His tone actually sounded like it. But Grayson focused on the fact that Dane was still furrowing his brow.
“…You’re frowning.”
“This is just my face. Even if you don’t like it, there’s nothing I can do.”
Dane’s tone didn’t change much this time either. Indeed, the face Dane showed him wasn’t much different from what Grayson remembered. He did frown even more when working, but that was due to annoyance, far from being angry. Realizing that fact, the tension in Grayson’s shoulders eased, and he felt much more comfortable. Only then did Grayson answer the question.
“I don’t automatically give a gift or anything just because someone spends my rut with me.”
After confirming that the color had returned to Grayson’s face, Dane asked.
“Then why do you want to do it for me?”
“Because you helped me.”
The answer was simple. Meaning, it was merely a form of simple reciprocation. This man had clearly lived his life that way—paying the price for every favor he received.
He must have won people over like this.
Thinking so, Dane opened his mouth.
“You don’t have to reward me for something I did voluntarily.”
At the casual tone, Grayson paused and looked up at him. That wasn’t all. Dane took the plate from in front of Grayson and even gave his head a quick stroke. It was an indifferent yet familiar, gentle touch, as if he were petting Darling.
The surprised Grayson, his eyes wide, touched the spot where Dane’s hand had just been.
“…Dane, I.”
Grayson opened his mouth with a blank look. Before the next word could come out, Dane slapped his other cheek.
When Grayson Miller arrived at work, the employees were surprised by two facts: that both of his cheeks were red, swollen, and flushed, and despite that, he was beaming with happiness.
“Miller, what happened? That…”
“Good morning, hello.”
When Ezra asked in surprise, he greeted him cheerfully. Thanks to that, one more surprising thing was added. Grayson Miller returning a greeting so brightly? What happened?
But that wasn’t the end of it. Dane’s face, who appeared immediately afterward, was the exact opposite. There were shadows under his eyes from fatigue, and his slumped gait made him look even more depressed than usual. This was the first time they had seen him look so devoid of energy.
“It looks like Miller sucked all of Dane’s energy dry.”
Ezra denied the whispered comment next to him in a low voice, saying, “No way.”
“Something must have happened during his time off. Considering he took sudden leave, it must have been serious.”
Did something happen to his family?
Ezra was worried but couldn’t easily ask. He merely glanced at him nervously, when he suddenly noticed another oddity. Dane had come to work wearing his uniform. Because of that, he simply took his ID card out of his locker and stuffed it into his pocket without changing clothes.
“What happened?”
At Ezra’s question, Dane finally looked at him. As Ezra gestured toward his attire, Dane answered indifferently.
“Too lazy to change.”
Ezra tilted his head, but Dane quickly closed the locker door. Just as he turned to walk away, a guy who had just entered spoke boisterously.
“Hey, everyone gather around! Wilkins bought hot dogs. Let’s all eat together, come over here! Hurry!”
“Ooh!”
The colleagues gathered happily in one spot. Dane was the only one who didn’t approach them. Seeing him scowl and look displeased for some reason, Ezra asked, confused.
“What are you doing? Aren’t you going to eat?”
“I’m good.”
Dane declined, looking away. Today, there wasn’t just one or two strange things about him. Dane, who never refused anything free, was declining a hot dog? What on earth was going on?
Someone handed a hot dog to the puzzled Ezra. Ezra accepted it with a thank you, then soon spotted Grayson a short distance away and offered him the hot dog.
“Here, Miller.”
Grayson stared blankly, then silently accepted it, but only unwrapped the packaging and didn’t put it in his mouth. The sausage inside the bun was strangely eye-catching today. What is it? The moment he frowned in confusion, something he had forgotten was revived in his mind.
…Uh?
Grayson quickly blinked his eyes. He forcibly squeezed his brain cells to recall the hazy memory. And his efforts paid off, as a tremendous scene suddenly unfolded before his eyes.
“Ven—Hmpf.”
Someone clapped their hand over Grayson’s mouth the moment he cried out. As all eyes focused on them, Dane threatened him in a low voice from behind him.
“Come outside.”
And Dane grabbed Grayson’s mouth and dragged him outside. The remaining colleagues could only stare with bewildered expressions at the flailing, dragged-out Grayson and the quickly receding Dane, whose face was pale and rigid.
“I remember! The Venus, the Virginia between the Venus, the Virginia!”
The moment his mouth was freed, Grayson bellowed at the top of his lungs. He had dragged him out knowing this would happen, but he couldn’t help the piercing ringing in his ears. Dane covered his aching ears with one hand, then covered Grayson’s mouth again with the other.
“Calm down.”
He glared at Grayson with terrifying eyes and muttered.
“Calm down before I shove my cock in and shut your mouth.”
Anyone hearing those words would shut up in horror. But Dane had chosen the wrong opponent. Seeing Grayson instantly get an ecstatic look and unleash thick pheromones, Dane broke out in a cold sweat on his back. Dane immediately took his hand away, put his hand on his forehead, and sighed.
“Forget about that.”
“I can’t.”
Grayson, naturally, refused flatly. The thought that he had almost lost that memory forever was chillingly frightening.
“I will never forget it, for my entire life. I wish I could scan my brain and save the memory. Then I would zoom in and save the Venus 100 times, and the scene with the Virginia inserted 100 times, just in case the saved ones disappear. The part where you put the Virginia between the Venus and licked my cock, I’d save that 1,000 times…”
“Stop.”
Dane felt exhaustion wash over him and interrupted his words. Grayson reluctantly shut up, but he seemed restless, unable to somehow release his boiling emotion. If Dane silenced him, Grayson wouldn’t spill the beans anywhere. But he had to curb this excitement. His colleagues would start to think something was wrong.
In this situation, Dane unfortunately had only one card to play.
“If you behave, I’ll do it again next time.”
Grayson suddenly stopped all movement. Watching him not even breathe, Dane added.
“On the condition that you stay quiet until my chest heals.”
Grayson still didn’t move an inch. One second, two seconds, three seconds.
Exactly five seconds later, Grayson asked in a loud voice, as if exhaling his trapped breath.
“Really? You’ll really put the Virginia between the Venus and suck it? When I’m not in rut? When I’m sober?”
To the barrage of questions, Dane only offered one word.
“Yes.”
“Then me.”
“No.”
Dane refused outright.
