Desire Me If You Can Novel - Chapter 114
Slam! He immediately slammed the door shut again. Dane stood in the hallway, gripping the doorknob, blinking his wide eyes.
What did I just see?
He stood frozen for a moment, then quickly shook his head like a wet dog before fixing his gaze on the door again.
I must have seen it wrong.
Hoo, he took a deep breath, then turned the doorknob again. Unlike the first time, he opened the door cautiously, very slowly, and froze at the sight that unfolded before his eyes.
The room was exactly the same as before. Dane, having confirmed that he had not seen wrong, turned ghostly pale and dropped his jaw.
When Dane left that morning, the room was exactly as it had been when he first moved in. His belongings were few—enough to fit in a single backpack—and most of that was related to the cat. Because of this, when Dane left the mansion for work, the room looked pristine, as if no one had used it, save for the slightly disheveled bed he had slept in. Therefore, when he returned from work, it should have been the same.
What in the hell am I looking at?
Dane stood there, eyes wide. The room was utterly filled with flowers. More flowers than Dane had seen in his entire life combined. And every single one was a brilliant red rose. After working all day at the fire station, the room felt scorching red, as if it were on fire. Furthermore, the light mint-green walls were suddenly covered in white, and thin scraps of fabric and ribbons were strewn everywhere in chaotic abandon.
He blinked, unable to believe this was reality, but the worst thing in this whole mess was the person sitting on the bed, staring back at him.
What the hell is that?
He squeezed his eyes shut and opened them again, but nothing changed. Under the draped canopy of fabric over the bed, sitting demurely like a new bride, was definitely Grayson Miller.
That bright blonde hair, those deep violet eyes, and above all, that incredibly striking face—it couldn’t possibly be anyone else. And he was sitting neatly on the bed where Dane had slept until this morning.
Horrifyingly, he was completely naked.
And he had a red ribbon tied on his head.
“Welcome home, darling.”
Grayson greeted Dane in a cheerful voice, his cheeks flushed, and even a shy smile on his face.
That wasn’t the end of it. Staring at Dane, who was pale with goosebumps running down his spine, Grayson said,
“Since today is a special day, I prepared a special gift. It’s me.”
So that’s what the ribbon on his head was for.
Dane thought blankly, his face drained of color. Grayson chuckled, looking genuinely delighted. As if he expected Dane to jump onto the bed right now and shower him with kisses.
Dane didn’t move for several seconds. It wasn’t just his body that was frozen like ice; his brain also refused to move and went on strike. It was simply too harsh to accept this as reality.
But the sense of impending crisis soon jolted him awake. Dane flinched, shook his head, and then silently strode into the room. Ignoring the man sitting on the bed, whose eyes were shining with expectation, utterly pretending he didn’t even exist, Dane walked straight to Darling, who was lying on a cushion. Without saying a single word, Dane bent down, picked up the cat, and turned around. He simply abandoned the rest of his luggage.
“Darling, where are you going! Darling!”
Grayson called out repeatedly from behind, but Dane did not stop. At the sound of footsteps following him, Dane’s pace quickened. Eventually, they started running down the long hallway.
The frantic footsteps of Dane trying to escape this nightmare and Grayson trying to catch him echoed loudly. Dane hastily ran down the stairs, and when he glanced back at the sound of following footsteps, he turned ashen. Grayson, with only the red ribbon dangling from his head, was chasing him.
“Aaaaaah!”
A scream Dane had never let out in his life erupted from his mouth. And then, still clutching Darling in one arm, he mercilessly swung his fist at Grayson, who was rushing toward him. Thwack, followed by a loud crash as the large body flew and hit the wall.
Haa, haa.
Dane stood there, still clenching his fist, panting heavily. He skirted around the sprawled Grayson, pressing himself against the wall, and once he was a safe distance away, he fled up the stairs and into the room.
An awkward silence settled over the snack bar. Dane sat with his arms crossed, his foot tapping rapidly, while Grayson rubbed his reddened cheek, his expression full of discontent. Fortunately, he was wearing clothes. Dane, staring irritably at the brazen face that was effectively blaming him, spoke first.
“Have you finally lost your mind?”
“Lost my mind? I had a reason—”
Grayson tried to protest, but Dane was faster.
“If you haven’t lost your mind, why were you sitting naked on someone else’s bed? You’re disgusting.”
This was the first time Dane had seen such a filthy spectacle. The shock of seeing something he couldn’t unsee had not yet faded. Dane shuddered at the memory that surfaced, but Grayson became even more agitated at his words.
“Disgusting? Disgusting? Are you saying my Virginia is disgusting?”
“Why were you doing that in someone else’s room instead of your own bed, and what the hell is with the state of the room?”
Why should I care if he gets naked alone in his own room? If he had done that, Dane wouldn’t have been so utterly disgusted. Why was he terrorizing someone else’s room?
But once again, Grayson had his own reasons.
“Because it was our anniversary!”
Dane paused at the unexpected statement. Anniversary? What anniversary?
Thanksgiving? Independence Day? Easter? Christmas?
What on earth?
As Dane mentally checked off the holidays that came to mind, he looked bewildered. Grayson declared, as if he knew that would be the case:
“Our 30-day anniversary since we started dating.”
Dane frowned and stared at him. He didn’t understand what this meant at all. A 30-day anniversary? What in the world is that……..
“It’s the 31st now.”
Grayson corrected himself, having realized that they had crossed midnight due to the commotion. Hearing that, Dane was rendered speechless by the sheer absurdity. He felt his mind go completely blank again, and he could only keep blinking his eyes.
He didn’t know where to start or what to say. In the end, Dane could only fumble for words, lifting his hands, palms up, and then dropping them.
“……You celebrate 30 days?”
“Yes.”
Grayson nodded nonchalantly at the question Dane managed to ask. Dane forcefully closed and opened his eyes three or four times before his mind somewhat cleared. Irritation immediately flared up.
“Who in the world celebrates just 30 days, you crazy bastard?”
“I have to! Of course I have to!” Grayson retorted, unwilling to lose.
“It would be strange not to! I’m not even celebrating every single day we’re a couple, so you think I should just let 30 days slide? Do you know how much I’ve been waiting for this day? I’ve been holding myself back from having an event every day! What do you know?”
And Grayson delivered the final blow.
“Considering we haven’t even been on a single date.”
This bastard?
Dane stared at Grayson in shock. This puppy, having been indulged, was now trying to bite his nose. Is it time to teach him some manners? Just as he clenched his fist, his gaze fell on Grayson’s brightly flushed cheek. Dane paused for a moment, then reluctantly relaxed his hand and let out a deep sigh.
“Why did you have to wait naked? Don’t you know what ‘moderation’ is?”
As Dane redirected the arrow of his anger, Grayson unexpectedly answered immediately.
“You like that kind of thing.”
At the reply, which sounded like an established fact, Dane was aghast and let out a short, scoffing breath.
“Am I a pervert?”
He hissed, grinding his teeth. Grayson didn’t respond but pulled out his phone and pressed a button. He seemed to be looking for something, then opened the screen and thrust it in front of Dane’s eyes. What’s this? Dane frowned in annoyance and shifted his gaze to the screen, where he instantly froze.
It was a picture of Dane and Yeonwoo coming out of an adult novelty store together.
Cold sweat immediately beaded on Dane’s temples, and Grayson said threateningly,
“Care to explain this photo, and what exactly it means?”
