Alpha Trauma Novel (Completed) - Chapter 82. Kim Dohyun (7)
It felt like he had been hit in the back of the head. His mind went blank, and his vision blurred. The words Dohyun had intended to say to Wooyeon scattered powerlessly into the air.
Being quick-witted is sometimes truly useless. Dohyun wished he hadn’t understood those words, but he immediately grasped the entire situation. Who Danny was, how the two of them became close, and what Wooyeon’s reaction would be if he told him the truth.
‘Hug me, Teacher.’
Wooyeon said so and pulled Dohyun. His slowly opening and closing eyes were still unfocused. Dohyun gently stroked Wooyeon’s hair with his free hand.
‘There are many meanings to a hug.’
Instead of answering, Wooyeon stared at Dohyun. With his head tilted up and eyes closed, he looked as if he was begging for a kiss. As Dohyun brought his face closer, their lips touched like feathers.
‘…’
‘…’
Smack, their lips parted, only to meet again in a very short time. It was because of a single word that escaped Wooyeon’s mouth.
‘Just one more time…’
Dohyun, as if possessed, took Wooyeon’s lips. He bit his lower lip, baring his teeth, then pushed his tongue into the opening. The hot, narrow mouth was so enchanting that even his saliva tasted sweet.
‘Mmm…’
Wooyeon made a pleasant sound, but Dohyun knew he wouldn’t remember it tomorrow. He wouldn’t remember the messily intertwined pheromones, the wet, coming and going breaths, nothing.
‘…Yeon-ah.’
Still, perhaps he would remember, like last time. Dohyun held onto that hope and pulled his lips away. He gently held Wooyeon’s slender jaw and pleaded in a desperate voice.
‘Call me Teacher tomorrow too.’
‘…’
‘Don’t pretend you don’t know me.’
If he had even a small chance, he would close his eyes and tell him everything. He could see the future as if it were already drawn, but he didn’t want to give up yet. Knowing how cowardly this was, he still wished for one more opening.
‘…No.’
But things didn’t go as planned. The resolute voice completely shut down all hope.
‘I won’t tell you.’
With those words, Wooyeon drifted into the abyss of sleep. Dohyun let out a frustrated sigh, clutching his right hand tightly.
Naturally, Wooyeon really didn’t remember anything. Dohyun stayed awake all night, and watching Wooyeon’s flustered confusion, he realized many things. For instance, that Wooyeon would never bring up the past first, and that he also wouldn’t be able to tell him about Soohyang.
He didn’t know why Wooyeon was pretending not to know. There must be a reason for not speaking, but if it wasn’t said, there was nothing he could know.
Until the very end, Dohyun even lost the courage to tell him everything.
The past that came to mind throughout his shower finally led to the day he started dating Wooyeon.
Wooyeon’s face was truly hurt, and tears streamed down as he said he would sort out his feelings.
‘I won’t like Teacher anymore.’
Was it a mistake to angrily call Wooyeon “Yeon-ah” when Wooyeon was trying to end everything with one sexual encounter? Was it wrong that he, who had left Wooyeon first, felt betrayed as if the tables had been turned?
The moment he felt he would lose Wooyeon, Dohyun couldn’t think of anything else. Guilt and conscience were unnecessary; he just wanted to keep Wooyeon by his side. The past he had defended with such logical reasons finally crumbled like a sandcastle.
Dohyun had lost Wooyeon again, and this time, he couldn’t think of a way to hold onto him. For now, he just had to see his face, that vague thought filled his mind. Well, it wasn’t as if he had no plan at all.
Dohyun checked the watch on his wrist and took a spot in front of the building where Wooyeon’s first lecture was held. The campus was already crowded early in the morning due to the upcoming first-semester final exams. About two hours. Wooyeon would arrive at school after that much time.
“Phew.”
He had never been this nervous in his life; it felt like all his organs were twisting. Perhaps because he had stayed up all night, or because of the memory he had just recalled, his condition wasn’t very good either.
“Sunbae, hello.”
“Oppa, you came early?”
Ten minutes, twenty minutes, and thirty minutes. Many people passed Dohyun while he waited for Wooyeon. Normally, they would have talked for a long time, but they just exchanged brief greetings and watched Dohyun’s expression. Perhaps his expression looked quite bad to others as well.
“Oh? Hyung!”
It was Seongyu, who arrived at school earlier than Wooyeon, who called out to Dohyun. Seongyu rushed over as soon as he saw Dohyun, checked his complexion, and widened his eyes.
“Hyung, didn’t you sleep? Your dark circles are no joke.”
“I didn’t sleep, but… is it that bad?”
Dohyun awkwardly rubbed his eyes. He was a little tired, but he didn’t realize it was so visibly bad. He had made Wooyeon angry, so he should at least look good, but his face looked strange, which was quite problematic.
“No, Hyung, you’re still handsome, so it’s fine.”
Seongyu smiled mischievously and gave two thumbs up. It was clear he was deliberately exaggerating because Dohyun seemed to be in a bad mood. Dohyun habitually tried to smile but gave up, lacking the energy.
“But Hyung, perhaps…”
Watching Dohyun, Seongyu cautiously began. Seeing him subtly gauge the situation, he clearly had a rough idea. He rolled his eyes a few times and asked in a small voice.
“Did you fight with Wooyeon… no, is something wrong?”
It was a clumsy attempt at consideration. If it had been Garam, he would have directly asked if they fought, but Seongyu was the one who changed his words mid-sentence. Normally, Dohyun would have answered without embarrassment, but he didn’t even have that luxury now.
“It just… happened.”
“…You didn’t break up, did you?”
No sooner had he said that than a car approached the building. It was a rare car model, and its darkly tinted windows made it clear that no ordinary student would be riding in it. Dohyun fixed his gaze on it and spoke as if to himself.
“I’m waiting because I don’t want that to happen.”
Click, the car door opened. It was the driver’s seat, not the back. A woman neatly dressed in a suit walked around the car without even glancing at Dohyun. Her mechanically opening the back seat door revealed someone Dohyun knew well.
“…Driver Yoon.”
Dohyun left the dazed Seongyu and strode towards the car.
Amidst the gaze of a few students, a person wearing a white hat stepped out of the car. A pale face with delicate features. It was Wooyeon.
“I came to pick you up at the end of your class…”
Wooyeon walked away without listening to Driver Yoon. He didn’t look around, nor was he embarrassed by the pouring gazes. He simply walked towards the building, holding his bag in one hand and pulling his hat low with the other.
Hoo, Dohyun took a short, deep breath and called out to him in a low voice.
“Yeon-ah.”
‘…’
Thud, Wooyeon stopped. Driver Yoon, who was about to return to the car, also glanced their way.
Driver Yoon would probably report everything he saw here to Soohyang. If Soohyang had given any instructions, he would have prevented Dohyun from approaching Wooyeon.
But Driver Yoon pretended not to see Dohyun and got into the car. Seeing that there were no other bodyguards, it seemed this was the compromise between Wooyeon and Soohyang. Of course, after the incident Wooyeon mentioned with the driver, it would be impossible to even talk to him like this.
“Let’s talk.”
Wooyeon silently raised his head and looked at Dohyun.
They were exactly one step apart. Dohyun didn’t approach any further. Seongyu and the other students watched them, but it felt as if they were the only two left.
“It’ll only take a moment.”
At Dohyun’s words, Wooyeon bit his lower lip firmly. Dohyun didn’t take his eyes off Wooyeon’s face, watching his expression change clearly. Wooyeon’s flushed lips turned pale, and he answered almost inaudibly.
“I have nothing to say.”
With that, Wooyeon walked past Dohyun. Seongyu, who was a little distance away, widened his eyes in surprise. However, Dohyun had fully expected that reaction, so he silently began to follow Wooyeon.
‘…’
‘…’
It was a rather strange sight. Dohyun and Wooyeon walked down the hallway without a word. Wooyeon looked straight ahead, and Dohyun followed him. Both of them were somewhat famous, so if this continued, strange rumors would spread.
“Yeon-ah.”
Dohyun called Wooyeon again only when they reached the back door of the lecture hall. Hesitating, Wooyeon, who was about to open the door, spoke without looking at Dohyun.
“Don’t call me that.”
‘…’
“That’s not my name.”
His resolute voice was sharply edged. Just like Soohyang’s child, he had quite a forceful presence. Dohyun didn’t give up and stubbornly continued.
“I’ll wait until your class ends.”
‘…’
“No, let’s just take this class together.”
Saying so, Dohyun swung open the lecture hall door. As it happened to be a first-year major, there were quite a few familiar faces inside. Dohyun nodded at Wooyeon, ignoring the juniors who greeted him warmly.
“Aren’t you coming in?”
“What… what are you doing right now?”
Only then did Wooyeon’s gaze turn to Dohyun. Although his expression was stiff, it was the face Dohyun had thought about all night. Dohyun suppressed the urge to hug him and spoke so only Wooyeon could hear.
“I can’t break up with you.”
It was what he had said just yesterday. It was also the declaration Wooyeon had made, saying he could no longer trust his Teacher. Sure enough, Wooyeon parted his lips slightly, as if to reiterate those words.
“I,”
“Course registration.”
Just four characters were enough. Wooyeon pressed his lips together, his face contorted. Dohyun snatched Wooyeon’s bag and placed it on a seat near the back door.
“You said you’d buy me dinner if I helped you with course registration.”
He didn’t care if he sounded pathetic. It was fine if Wooyeon got annoyed, asking when that was. As long as he could create a setting for them to talk, he would even cling to Wooyeon’s pants this time.
“You said to yourself you’d buy me something not cheap.”
Wooyeon glared at Dohyun, his lips pressed tightly together. His eyes, visible under the brim of his hat, flickered with defiance. The silence continued for a long time, but Dohyun knew this method would work.
“I’ll consider this the last time.”
At the word ‘last,’ Wooyeon’s eyes wavered. The undisguised true feelings showed that he hadn’t completely sorted out his emotions. Dohyun smiled bitterly, placing his hope there.
“Just one more time, Yeon-ah.”
